freestyle.ch

This year was my first time to got to freestyle.ch in Zürich. As I promised to make a short cover of the event, I'm gonna write today more as usual.

For those who have never heard of this even, what is freestyle.ch?

Freestyle.ch is the largest and most important freestyle sport event in Europe. This year, on 22 and 23 September 2012 the star riders from the freestyle scene gathered at Landiwiese in Zurich to compete for the titles of "freestyle.champ" and "crossover.champ". The entire international freestyle community came together for freestyle.ch, marking the start of the freestyle season. In 2012, freestyle.ch included MTB Dirt Jump as a contest discipline for the very first time, skateboarding was covered by a GAME OF SKATE in which visitors battled the pros.

Unofficial kick-off party for the weekend was Legendary Sudden Rush BBQ which was nice outdoor chilling-grilling with live music. After that was the official Riders Welcome Night at Station Club.

Day 1.
Qualifications. Crossover session.

Saturday as the qualifications day wasn't lucky with weather - it was raining all day so the Dirt Bike and FMX were cancelled and also cut out of the crossover session. Mud was the keyword. However, 32 000 freestyle world fans found their way to the event during the weekend.

Snowboard qualification
Start at 32m. 13m table. 190 tons of snow. 3 days to build and set up the constructions. Snow making start - 1,5 days before the competition. General event budget - 3,1 million CHF/€2,5 million.

Crossover session
This year’s Crossover Session was a fiercely fought battle between snowboard and freeski, men and women. FMX and MTB couldn’t participate due to the rain and for safety reasons. Also, for the first time in freestyle.ch history were women competing. Freeskier Elias Ambühl (SUI) and snowboarder Sina Candrian (SUI) battled it out in the final, with Elias Ambühl winning the crowd over and the crossover.champ title!

Miniramp
There was also a cool miniramp by Vans and Beach Mountain. Guys were totally enjoying it. It was in a big tent so no matter the weather, the fun was still on til late hours.

One cool thing at freestyle.ch was the Lable World. It's like an area where all different extreme sport brands and magazines represent theirselves. Also, Laax tent was there I spotted quite many Laax people .
Saturday's Afterburner party was held at Härterei but seemed like Zimtstern's party tent at the event place was also a hotspot.

Day 2.
The finals. The game of S.K.A.T.E.
Weather was super amazing, really hot but better than rain.

Day 11: Keep doing no matter how hard it seems, it will get easier.

It's 2017. Weird. It's already 5 years since I started with this blog and this year I'll turn 25 so the numbers are looking good...
