Day 4: Don't give up and don't give in.

This time I'm gonna write a small story about my little sister so if you're interested to read it, then feel free to do it, otherwise just scroll the photos.

***

"Don't give up" means "Keep trying"
"Don't give in" means make up your own mind, don't let someone or something pressure you.

As a little kid you think you know exactly how it is to grow up and when you get older you do everything differently than your parents. However, seeing someone else growing up, is totally different thing. It makes you to recognise the path you've already walked and makes you understand the life cycle better.

I have a little sister called Anna. I was 10 when she was born so it has been pretty interesting to see a little person growing up. Sometimes I find young me in her but the other time I think she's from another family or something. :D Anyway, she's hyperactive and very inpatient. Can't say she doesn't know what she wants, she's just dissatisfied if this what she gets isn't what she wants. Funny thing is with Anna and sports. She's very active and by the end of the last year she had tried out swimming, dancing, ballet, athletics and football. Perhaps something more but I know for sure that for every new sports there was a new bag of equipment bought. Poor parents!

Last November I was in Estonia and told my sister about gymnastics. I said it's cool (because i did it), showed some videos and she got interested in it. We found a club for her to join and since then she has been committed on this field. I'm pretty happy to see that her bouncing came to an end. She didn't give up to find something what she really likes to do and she also didn't give in the pressure from others to stop switching classes.

I think here you can draw a parallel with any other passion - don't hesitate to take your time to find it, no matter what others are telling you. And once you do find Your Thing, don't get stuck in your comfort zone - keep pushing it. There's always room for progress.

Day 3: Consider things from every angle.

If there's something bothering you then the best way to get over it is to analyse it, think it through... right? It's important to take the time to consider things from every angle. Walking, hiking and biking work for me the best. That's why I am so happy to live in the Swiss Alps because the nature here is absolutely amazing and it's pleasure to be outside.

I had lift ticket for the summer but unfortunately went up only like 5-6 times. However, one of my most memorable hike was Cassons-Bargis. Really love Bargis valley! It's right behind the big "rock" you see often on the photos of Flims (Flimserstein). So this hike was over the rock to the other valley. Lot's of time for myself and time to think about life. Mountains have a lot to teach you.

Day 2: Believe in yourself.

Laax has a massive kicker line. Consists of 3 huge monsters. I think for jumping those you really need to believe in yourself that you can do it. Got to trust yourself because if you crash, you crash bad. So that's why I really appreciate the guys who jump those kickers. Respect.

Day 1: Avoid negative sources, people, places, things and habits.

It's not a game and it's not some kind of challenge but next 26 days I will post a phrase of a "poem" that consist of 26 lines that all are in alphabetical order. I had to learn the poem in school and since then some of the quotes pop in my head every now and then. They're simple and positive. Maybe someone else finds them motivational as well!

My goal is to bring you the photos of the year 2014 as I haven't been updating the blog for a long time. Want to get back on track with blogging as it helps me to keep my photos organised. My personal photo bank has grown enormously and having "stress" with blog is kinda forcing me to invest more time in editing. The reason why I stopped writing an year ago, was because I got too picky with my work and photos I showed in blog. Perfection is kinda of like a disease and in the end trying to be perfect makes you simply dissatisfied. Well, that's what I experienced.

Lastly, the name or the address of this blog is going to change in a month as it's not fitting with the concept I want to have in future. I will reveal the new name in a few weeks.

Thanks!
Mariell

Analog Snaps

This summer I got my very first analog photo camera. It was seriously the highlight of the summer. So happy about it! Shooting film is a really cool process - takes time but is worth it. Somehow made me realise how fast is our life nowadays. For sure has taught me to be more patient and more spontaneous. No need to take 10 shots of the same angle; just shoot one good one and get a new spot.

In this post are images from three 35mm film rolls. Just some friends, special moments and landscape shots. Hopefully it also motivates someone else to get an oldschool camera! And special thanks to everyone who allowed me to take the shots.
In case there will be no new blog posts here, check my webpage. Made a new selection there for Analog photos. mariellvikkisk.com .

Day 11: Keep doing no matter how hard it seems, it will get easier.

It's 2017. Weird. It's already 5 years since I started with this blog and this year I'll turn 25 so the numbers are looking good...
